My week in food

Current weight : 15st 1.5lbs
Gain this week : 0.5 lb
Total loss : a really pathetic and ridiculous 0.5lb! Shameful

Weigh day Friday, was my first night out with my new colleagues! Going out straight after work at 4pm I knew I had to be sensible and eat first...fish & chip Friday at Wetherspoons ;-) then copious amounts of G&Ts, a little prosecco and even a Bailey's thrown in for good measure. This then lead to...

Hangover Saturday, and I don't care what anyone else thinks, it has to be a McDonalds - cheese burger & caramel frappe to be precise. Now I must add that at this point I was back to 14st 12lbs so maybe my Facebook pal who so eloquently asked if I just needed a big dump, was right? A wee birthday party for a 4 year old but I ate very little however I drank Full Fat Coke as my bloody sugar kept dropping. By supper time I was sooo hungry so had a super fast Dine in for £10. This then lead to...

Mothering Sunday, started with breakfast in bed from my son - eggs on toast. Then a McFlurry (creme egg - no more debating the deliciousness off creme eggs) from my daughter. Maybe a G&T or 4, and mothers day chocolate (rude not to). This then lead to...

Virtuous Monday, trying so hard to be healthier today. My boss popped to the sandwich shop and before I knew it I'd asked for a cheese & coleslaw panini - not even the thought of hot coleslaw put me off. This then lead to...

Back on the train Tuesday, and without my prosecco buddy I didn't quoff a share of 3 bottles of fizz, I had them all to myself instead (hold on to your hats, I'm kidding) but I did have a can of Bailey's latte (this is lush btw) and a can of G&T, and chocolate peanuts. Once in Glasgow I wanted a quick dinner so made my way to the local Wetherspoons and had a burger!! This then lead to...

Training course Wednesday, which started off really well and with great intentions as I had berries, yogurt & granola but I then had a chocolate digestive with my coffee at training, lunch was provided and I had sandwiches (at least one too many) cake and a kitkat. The course finished early, I couldn't change my train ticket, and I was bored. After mooching around Monsoon (followed by one of those secret MI5 agents) and seeing loads of clothes I wanted but would look horrible on my size 18 body I went for coffee. At this point I could have had a flat white, but no, you guessed it, I had a burnt caramel latte with whipped cream!! I am my own worst enemy. This then lead to...

Oh my God panic last chance Thursday, where I lost the plot and devoured a Lindor egg and chocolate bar!! I fear there is no hope, I'm a lost cause.

Disclaimer : Myself & Wetherspoon have not entered into any agreement or contract either verbal or otherwise. I do not get paid (in cash or caramel lattes - yes wetherspoons do them too (actually very good ones!)) for mentioning them in my blogs. The fact I have frequented their establishments twice this week is purely coincidential!

In alcohol's defense, I've done some pretty dumb things when I've been completely sober too.

O.M.G.

     Current weight : 15st 1lb
Weight gain this week : 3 lbs
     Total loss : 1lb

Everything was going swimmingly. I was in my groove, things going well, not really thinking of food and not feeling hungry and the weight had started to drop. But then last week happened and it went to poo. So going into this week was a struggle, trying hard to get back to that comfortable place and then...I was away from home again! This time Edinburgh beckoned and I wasn't alone!! Firstly let me confirm that on Wednesday morning I was still (unbelievably) 14st 12lb - clinging on for dear life. In the space of just over 24 hours I put 3lb on. Is that even possible? Well I guess so, cos I have. Now I am absolutely blaming my colleague! To say she's a bad influence is an understatement! Just to give you a taste of my day it started on the train... Cinnamon and sugar pretzel (this is the first one I've ever eaten in full! Delicious) accompanied by 3, yes 3, bottles of prosecco and 2 family size bags of crisps! I don't think you need to hear the rest of the trip but you get the idea. Needless to say we had a ball.

So how to get my groove back? Well I doubt it'll be this week!? Night out tonight, mother's day, birthday party, and then back to Glasgow! Nope ain't going to happen next week. Though at least I'm alone in Glasgow so my naughtiness will be limited! ;-)

Before you point your finger, make sure your hands are clean!

Eye off the ball

Current weight : 14st 12.5 lbs
Gain : 0.5lb
Total loss : 3.5lbs

So all it takes is a moment of madness! I took my eye off the ball for one second and I don't mean while playing netball. I couldn't play this week, which was downfall number one. I really had to clean the house before hubby came home! I know it sounds lame but it's so true.

My weekend wasn't totally healthy. Which is normally ok as I have all week to pull up my socks. Downfall number two, because I didn't really get a chance! Before I get settled and into my groove I took a wee trip to Glasgow. In just more than 24 hours it all went wrong. Now I'm not asking for your tears - the buck stops with me. You see I just can't resist a night away from home. Oh such fun. It started ok. On the train I had a choice. Bottle of water with some nuts and fruit, or...A couple of cans and a bar of chocolate? I went down the middle - a bottle of water, one can of woo woo and chocolate peanuts! That was downfall number three, chocolate opened the flood gates. Dinner out (ignore all the rumours, I only had 1 pudding), alcohol, breakfast out (now this was healthy. Coconut porridge with quinoa), coffee with biscuits then lunch provided - sandwiches and fine cakes. Supper on the train which included the most delicious lemon cheesecake from Pret a Manger.

And that's it. All poop. I am my own worst enemy. And the good news is that I'm in Edinburgh next week then back to Glasgow the week after. Roll on April.... And Easter eggs lol.

I don't know where I am going, but I'm on my way.

A new number at last!

Weight today : 14st 12lbs
Weight lost : 2lbs
Total loss: 4lbs

So I had a wee twist playing netball this week. I was late, so missed the warm up, and I was playing hard...when oops! just a pulled a muscle or something. I 'RICE'd' it all night and it felt much better the next day, and now I'd say it's pretty much fine.

So the past couple of weeks I've been trying to up my fruit & veg portions to 10 a day. The good news is I didn't get the runs, nor the scurvy so all good. Typically I start my day with a small glass of orange juice to take my meds. Now many folk don't agree with OJ (just liquid sugar) but I like it. a) I'd forget to take my meds if I didn't have a glass b) it helps me go (Go where? - come on, you know what I mean, don't make me say it!!) It's pure juice, not from concentrate, and with lots of juicy bits so it definitely counts as 1. For breakfast I mostly have fruit with greek yogurt and granola. I will have raspberries, grapes & half a banana and there are raisins in the granola. Now even though this is 4 types of fruit it can't be 4 portions as that would be a big breakfast so I'm guessing its 2. Lunch is salad - lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, onions - so I'm going to say another 2. I snack on fruit or sugarsnap peas so that will be another 1. Then my supper will be something with veg and I'll go for 3 portions (and no! I'm not including potatoes). Total = 9. Not bad, but on somedays it might only be 7 or 8 (or shock horror - even less).

So happy to be finally in another number (stone wise). Lets keep it up. As long as I don't go away on holiday I should be ok.

I don't have any vegetable jokes, but if you do lettuce know.

Clutter-free home, clutter-free mind

Current weight : 15st
Weight loss this week: 2lb
Total weight loss : 2lb

OK, so its a start.

I thought maybe if that I de-cluttered by life my head would be clutter-free also, to allow more room for all these changes. But where to start? My whole house could do with a good seeing to. I decided that I should tackle my handbag first. The thing is so heavy with crap that when I fling it on the passenger seat of my car the dash board pings and tells me it needs to wear a seat belt! I found so much rubbish - receipts from eons ago, broken pens, some ear plugs, some cotton buds, sweets (which I ate), some shortbread wrapped in a napkin (which I ate - and then spat out), shopping lists...you name it. My purse (I'm not saying to find a purse in a handbag is unusual you understand) but my purse is heavy. And no not heavy with cash (I wish). I have 41 cards in my purse, and that's only the ones I carry on a daily basis 'just in case I need it'. I have 13 coffee cards!! Some plastic like Costa and some cardboard ones for stamps like The National Trust - because you just never know when you might find yourself in a castle buying a mochachino.

So I managed to sort my handbag but so far I've not progressed further. I so want to do my wardrobe but not sure how. The clothes don't fit (pretty much everything in my wardrobe is too small (nothing is too big, surprise surprise)). All my clothes that fit me seem to live on the floor - either dirty and waiting to be washed, or clean waiting to go away (but wardrobe too full with clothes that don't fit). I don't want to get rid of my clothes (the too small ones, not the ones that fit cos that would be me naked) It's a power struggle. The clothes are sure I'll never wear them again, and I'm determined that I will - even just for 30 seconds before binning them. Ah maybe I should lock them all away, and only free them as I reach each dress size. Liberate them only to discard (sounds like a bad Mills & Boon).

If the sign of a cluttered desk is a cluttered mind, what is the sign of an empty one?
