TV

I can't believe at the age of almost 55 I'm still talking about PMT! It's a bitch and makes me eat chocolate. And all you none believers can eat fruit and veg. I have lost 1lb which is a sugar miracle.

When I was a lass there was BBC 1 and 2, and ITV. I can remember channel 4 then 5 starting. Now there's so many channels that it is impossible to keep track. So many programmes that there are simply not enough hours. I like TV but it does drain the life out of you if you're not careful. The issue is that there are some really good things just waiting to be watched. But sitting on ones arse all day is not good for the soul or the body. I suppose it's a balancing act. Do you know that you move less when watching TV than you do when you sit doing nothing at all? Crazy but true.

Next week I won't be watching any TV at all. Back to France tomorrow for another week skiing. A smaller party than last time. In fact only 3 of us will be on the snow. This makes me nervous because hubby and brother in law like to descend fast. I'm not that keen on speed. Will they be patient? Time will tell. If I don't like it I will read a book (see? No TV).

There will be apres ski - food and drink, lots of chat and laughs, and fresh air. And no TV

I wore a coat for the first time in a while this week. It fits me again! I found these tickets in the pocket - from 2011. That's how long it's been, blimey. Still looks good too though.

Sorry it's a bit short this week but I've nothing to report. A bland week has been had.

A dead end street is a good place to turn around.

Bella

Well I got my red roses. The Valentine's dozen was indeed reduced to half price - £6. However, their standard dozen red roses (full price) was £5! Guess which ones I bought? And they are beautiful. And still thriving.

I took Isaac to the theatre yesterday. 12 Angry Men. I love the 1950's B&W movie starring Henry Fonda and the play didn't disappoint. I tried to get Isaac to take me for lunch first but he politely declined lol. But we did go to the cafe/bar and he bought me a 75 cocktail (see picture) which was delicious! Though he rejoiced in telling his sister that it was the most expensive drink on the menu. Ha ha. Ellie told him he needed to get out more!

Bella was a nightmare at the vets last Friday. She's just so hyper. Can dogs have ADHD? The vet was happy to examine her on the floor, but Bella wanted to be on the examination table! So, twice, jumped onto it. It's high, and the vet was amazed. No running jump. Just an enormous hop! I ended up in tears as she is such a handful sometimes and I was just so weary of her. Anyway we've been practising 'meet & greet' training with my neighbour. I'm sure she'll get it soon, she is very bright.

Talking about Bella-Dave - her name was shortened to just Bella then elongated to Bella boo, which then became Bella Boobies. Then shortened again to just boobies. Now I find myself just calling her Boobies! A bit embarrassing when I shout it across the fields.

No weight loss this week but that's fine. Loving life. Loving my size. Happy happy happy.

It's not the years in your life that counts, it's the life in your years.

Valentine's

I like Valentine's day. We don't do cards (every year the conversation goes - Mark says "Are we doing cards this year?" And I say "No, let's not bother"). We don't do gifts (the conversation goes - Mark says "Are we doing presents this year?" And I say "Well, I'm not getting you anything but please feel free to buy me something" - he doesn't). And we don't do flowers (the conversation goes - Mark says "Just buy yourself some reduced red roses in the sale the day after". And I usually do, and I'm happy. However, we do do a Valentine's Meal Deal! This year from ASDA and I liked it so much I bought two! Starter, main, 2 sides, dessert and wine for £12! Wednesday night we had goats cheese and caramelised onion tart (I had ¼ and Mark had ¾), steak and chips (¼ of one steak and 6 chips) then later tiramisu (I had a teaspoon full lol) and of course a bottle of wine and it was all delicious.

We started the evening sharing a bath. Mark is full of cold so this was as close as we got all evening! Bella obviously wanted to be with us, but also wanted to be in the bath with us! We spent the entire time trying to stop her climbing in. She loves the bubbles and stretches over to lick them off any part of the body she can reach! It wasn't very romantic tbh lol. I'm surprised she didn't just jump in, but thankfully she didn't. She is half kangaroo after all. The other night she was behind the sofa and she sprang over the top of the back and landed between Mark and I sat watching TV. Boy she gave me a fright. Bong - she just appeared. Daft dog. When we were skiing my sister in law walked her sometimes and said it was like flying a kite. She spends her whole time on her back legs, like a circus act!

I think you probably all know that I love my holidays but it's also so nice to be home. Sleeping in my own bed, at home with Isaac and Bella, even getting back to work. The nights are getting lighter and the daffodils are poking through the ground. It's still winter but with a promise of the spring that is just around the corner. My favourite time of year. All the joys of summer that you can almost touch.

I've lost 3lbs those week and I'm now down to 11st 3. So close to my next target of being in the 10s. How exciting is this? Joyous for me.

We so love big ice cubes for our gin that we take a tray on holiday with is for making them wherever we are. And we often have the problem shown in the photo - the glasses are too small. You gotta laugh.

I hope you all have a good week. And I'll be here next Friday morning as usual.

Love isn't something you find, it's something that finds you.

Snow days

I'm trying to work out what I've forgotten in the above photo, but nothing is coming to mind.

Had a lovely week in Flaine, France skiing. First few days blue skies and sunny (at the beginning of Feb too, wow) exactly what I like. Though I only ski in the morning, partly cos I'm knackered by lunch and also the sun melts the snow and skiing on slush not so nice. The afternoons are for going to the spa - pool/jacuzzi/sauna - bliss. It snowed Wednesday night and it was a bit cloudy the next morning so I decided to stay in. Have a relaxing day with my book. Alas, one of our party had a fall and Ellie and I needed to go down to the medical centre. She's torn her acl but is fine. Our little trip is to celebrate Ellie's 30th. We were all out for a good meal last night. There are 9 of us n this trip and it's been just gorgeous. Some skiing/snowboarding all day, some not at all, and some part time. I love the French meals we have self catering. Ski breakfast is porridge (ok, not very French) but I did have croissant with hot chocolate yesterday morning. Lunch however - Baguette, cheese, ham! yummy yummy. The odd sneaky vin chaud. Of course, spending time with family and friends is the best bit. Everyone brings something to the table and we have had such a laugh. Bon. Though they've mostly been taking the piss out of me! 😲

My holiday NSVs - I can fasten my own ski boots by myself for the first time ever! And I managed to stand back up on the slope after a fall with one ski on. Before I needed both skis off to kind of hoyk my body up onto the snowy slope. Both of these made me very happy.

Home tomorrow. Maybe to snow. We'll have to wait and see. Obviously no weight this week but I'd like to think I've kept on an even keel.

Chacun voit midi à sa porte - everyone sees noon at their door meaning everyone in life has a different point of view because we were all raised differently.

PS it's my skis I've forgotten lol

It worked!

Well after all that moaning last week I have finally lost that pound. Officially got a 5 stone loss. My next goal is to get into the 10 stones - I need to lose half a stone to get there. Now if I can do this I will be extra super excited! I'm

Ellie helped me sort my wardrobe this week. We removed everything in there, and I tried on every single piece of clothing that I own. Only the items that fit me and I liked went back in. I was chuffed that a few more things fitted that were too tight last time I tried them (around September I think) so that was awesome. And then everything that was too big either went in the bin, went to charity or (my really nice stuff) I'll be trying to sell on Vinted. Second hand clothes don't sell for much but every little helps. It's quite thrilling really.

Now those of you who have been reading my blog since the start (June 2016! Omg nearly 10 years ago - I can hardly believe it) anyway you'll all be used to seeing me in my underwear. It started as a weekly thing as I was convinced you'd all see me shrinking (didn't happen) but it didn't bother me. I was just liked 'this is my body, like it or lump it'. But I've noticed that as I've become slimmer I'm actually feeling a little bit shy of my knickers poses. I can't figure out why. Is it just that I'm older? Or am I embarrassed by the saggy skin? Or is it because I'm fatter on photos than I am in my head? Could be all the above. I am so happy and proud of my journey and I still wonder around naked (just in my house of course). Who knows what it means.

This week's pictures is Bella on my enormous armchair. I think it looks like a small dog in a normal sized armchair. Lol

Have a lovely week and I'll speak next Friday.

The best way to start each day is to get out of bed.
