So much this week!

80's bingo night with work mates. I felt so cool in my outfit until I walked into the room of 700 women all dressed exactly the same! I've never seen so many pink tutus! I have to say that I was a teenager in the 80's and I don't recall anyone ever wearing a pink tutu. But there you go.

Mark and I had a lovely weekend away. One night in Stirling - so pretty, and one night back at the House of Gods in Glasgow. Amazing hotel, great cocktails in the rooftop garden bar! Just love it.

I bought some new knickers. M&S Brazilian style. I had no idea what Brazilian style was all about, though Mark knowingly told me they weren't the same as Victoria Secrets Brazilian style. I really had no idea which way they went on. The label was at the side, rather than the back which wasn't helpful. The picture on the pack gave nothing away either. I thought lacy bits at the back. Mark told me lacy bit at the front. I tried both ways with not much difference so went with lace at the front. At the end of the day I realised I'd been wearing them back to front! The placement of the gusset gave it away. Why on earth did I listen to a boy telling me how to wear my knickers?! And, how did he know what Victoria Secrets knickers were like?? (Apparently I made him buy my yoga pants from them so now they keep sending him emails - he wasn't complaining mind you). Oh, and he also decided VS Brazilian were the same as M&S Brazilian after all!

Daft Gilly number 2 - at the Stirling hotel I was looking for the little pats of butter next to the toaster. I saw a yellow box with BUTTER written down the side. It was on a guest table next to the buffet but figured staff had put the box down and got side tracked. Except it wasn't a box of butters, it was a yellow novel that was called Butter!! Honestly, how mad is that!

Daft Gilly number 3 - my friend popped over for a cuppa. We were in the kitchen, I'd put the kettle on and Effy (the robotic hoover) was doing the kitchen floor. She went back to her base station when she started making a funny noise. The noise got worse, and I actually thought she was going to explode! I quickly ran to shout for Mark to come quick! When I walked back into the kitchen I realised the noise was actually my kettle whistling! Mark was so happy that someone outside of the household had witnessed my craziness!

Be more like the weather, it doesn't care if it's criticised.

Is it bad?

Surely, I'm not the only one that perhaps does something knowing it's potentially bad for them? Please?

So my bad? Ok we need sunshine - fact! We should be sat outside, with no SPF for 20 minutes every day to ensure we get the essential vitamin D. Sunlight during the day (with darkness at night) helps us to sleep. And, for lots of people who have the condition SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) the sun makes us feel good. However, that being said the sun on our skin in bad. Makes us wrinkly and old, and can cause cancer. But I love having a tan and feel so much better with one aka more attractive (so shoot me). Now, don't forget that the process of getting tanned means that you can burn. Burning your skin is really bad! So before I go on holiday I use sunbeds to get a base tan. This absolutely helps me not to burn, 100%! But (there's always a but) sunbeds are really really bad! Obviously, I could not use a sunbed, I could not try to get a tan, I could not go to hot countries on holiday, I could stay in the not so sunny UK and stay peely-wally! But, hey, who wants to do that? Not me. I'm bad.

I took my own advice yesterday. Mark and I were shopping in Aberdeen and I bought some new jeans at M&S. I didn't try them on, just grabbed a size 12 (instead of my usual, just presuming I need size 14). I got a bit nervous that they'd actually fit (and really thought they probably wouldn't) so when we popped into Ellie's flat I tried them on. Drum roll....OMG they fitted me perfectly! A size 12 jean. One of my all time goals. To say I was happy is an understatement! Joys upon joy!

My lovely valentine's flowers (don't be silly, not from Mark) were even less than half price. They were free! A charity brings reduced flowers to work but there were so many we didn't have space, or vases for them, so staff got to take some home. They are beautiful with a cute little teddy to boot, and still alive today. Whoop whoop. Below is our valentine's table (on the kitchen island as the dining room is still being decorated).

We have a few days away next week which I shall tell you about on Friday. Have a great week and may life be good to you!

Worry doesn't take away tomorrow's troubles, it takes away today's peace.

Love is all around

Happy Valentine's Day. I actually really like this day. Of course it's a long time since I wondered if I'd get any cards from secret admirers, and Mark and I don't exchange cards or gifts. We do usually have a nice dinner at home and I might decorate the table - rose petals and candles, you know the stuff. A reminder to be nice to each other which is just as well because I wasn't talking to him yesterday. He was just being insensitive and a bit of a plonker. Too much to explain but trust me, sometimes he's an idiot.

ASDA have a great meal deal on, except (in my local store) when I went the other day half the food expired on 13th!? And they had ran out of drink (so you could get two mains instead of one as a replacement to the wine) and when I tried again yesterday they had zero main courses left (is that all the mains sold replacing the drink?). I am going to try again today and failing that I'll try Morrisons.

It's my sister's wedding anniversary today too. They've managed 30 years (pearl) which is pretty cool for them. Happy anniversary guys! Though going out for dinner for your anniversary must be a nightmare with everyone eating out for valentine's too lol. It's a good excuse for Richard not to buy flowers though. Do you use that excuse BiL? I bet you buy roses anyway - sod the cost.

I will be buying myself red roses this weekend once they've been reduced because I do not sod the cost! I much prefer the pleasure I get from grabbing a bargain, oh and I'm obviously tight!

The picture was sent by my pal Karen (she was having a sort out). That's me in the blue jumper (look at the hair cut!) with my other good friend Karen (I collect Karen's, I have at least 3 current good Karen friends). I think I was about 17 years old here. A lifetime ago. But really good memories.

Have a lovely evening if you are celebrating - with a partner, son/daughter or pet, and make some memories. And if you're not, have a great weekend anyway.

Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.

Fixed to a point

As you can see from the picture I managed to detach my verticals, redo the maths and it all went back up. I've left the dried glue and the odd hole for Mark to fill and sand - he'll do a much better job than me! Almost finished when I ran out of wood strips. Ah, said Mark, we planned only 4 up not 5! So I also need Mark to cut me more strips to finish it. I only have the circular saw which won't do it. So close, but so far. But my curtain fabric is out of stock so there's no hurry. (Sorry about all the decorating talk - no more until it's all finished lol).

Did I tell you I bought new work trousers? Size 12! So chuffed. Though it made me think, I usually just grab size 14s, like my M&S holiday travel pants. They fit me, very roomy and don't fall down, but would the size 12 have fitted better? I don't know, I didn't try. I have a couple of pieces that I'm wondering this about. My natural instinct is to try the 14 but I think I should maybe try 12 then go up the next size if I need to. It's just a thought!

I'm eating too much sugar. Part of me is delighted that I can eat sweets and chocolate and not put on weight but the sensible part (yes, I do have a sensible part) is worried about diabetes! I know I could swap chocolate for say a bread stick but when you want chocolate you want chocolate! A bread stick (unless it's dipped in Nutella) doesn't cut it! I could have hummus with crudités (yum) but that's a snack. A handful of jelly tots is not a snack it's simple a sugar hit. A tiny treat that grows into 20 jelly tots after a few hours! And don't get me started on the wine! My sister (a diabetic nurse) will be straight on the phone with her lecture, oops sorry, I mean tips! (Only kidding Jane). I suspect that once all my Christmas goodies have gone things will settle down. I sure hope so because it's making me so so sleepy. I'm tired all the time, and need to go to bed super early, but then not sleeping properly and I'm sure it's down to sugar! Evil but tastes so nice!

The holiday makers return tomorrow night. Ellie with her arm in a sling (nothing broken, just a sprain) ready to start her brand new job on Monday!

Until next week then. Have fun everyone - the snow drops are here and the daffodils are not far behind.

As long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends will never part.
